MADAM CHINO SEWING SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIP LOTTO 2026

Madam Chino is working to expand the reach of sewing summer camps (ages 8-13 with no experience required), by sponsoring children whose families could not afford to pay for camp but do have the capacity to get the child to and from camps. Sewing is an empowering skill strengthening self-efficacy, self expression, and creative problem solving all while using math and measuremenbts to create wearable/utilitarian art; a perfect blend of left and right-brain skill-sets! I am so excited to help your children learn, grow and implement these amazing skills and techniques to create useful items from recycled materials! 

Madam Chino matches all donations (LINK on main class page below summer camp listings), and it requires a cumulative gift (from one or multiple donors) of $125 to be matched in order to cover the cost of one camp.  Unused partial donations in one year will roll over to the following year. Submitters from prior years will need to resubmit each year to be reconsidered (in case of aging out or changes in your availability or location). Those who receive a scholarship may resubmit multiple years in a row.  

People who donate to the camps are looking for diversity and opportunity for kids who would otherwise not have the chance to sew. This can be self-assessed knowing that this is an opportunity that you truly value but otherwise would not afford, and that you have the capacity to transport your child to and from the camp.  Camp sign ups are reservations that fill up and have a real value of $250, so it’s important that the slot goes to a family whose child can attend that slot, as missed slots are not redistributed and the opportunity is then lost.  

MC Sewing Summer Camp Lotto will be drawn from a bucket, not based on submission skills or ideas, and winners will be notified by email with a coupon code to sign up for the sewing camp reservations at no cost.  Camp Reservations will be based on the camps available at the time of the drawing, occurring May 15th.  If you do not hear back, please resubmit for the following year, we would love to have you and appreciate your commitment to sewing!!
